An entry-level disc-style chipper that can chip material up to 6" in diameter is the Bandit Model 65XP. An excellent all-around device for landscape and rental firms searching for a reasonably priced, tow-friendly equipment. With its weight of about 2,000 pounds, this machine is quite easy to handle in small spaces. There are gas engine choices from Briggs and Kohler with 25 to 37 horsepower.
A 24.95 CID hydraulic motor powers a single rotating top feed wheel, which makes up the feed system. With approximately 550 pounds of down pressure provided by down pressure springs on either side of the feed wheel, the 65XP can readily draw and compress material into the chipper. Further improving the machine's capacity to handle limby debris and tiny trees is a broad profile infeed hopper.
The 65XP is equipped with a 2,200-pound axle; a 3,500-pound axle with 14-inch tires is an optional feature. It is advised to utilize the optional auto feed to operate the feeding mechanism rather than needing to be near the machine and use the control bar.
