A 50" diameter x 66" width hammermill powers the HM6420. The 1.75-inch drum skin for the heavy-duty mill is made to order from rolled plate. A 7" alloy steel main shaft that has undergone ultrasonic testing supports the mill. High strength A-514 steel is used to create each pocket in the mill. Together, these elements provide a structurally solid mill that adds strength and integrity. Twenty carbide-infused hammer inserts are installed in the mill, and they are designed to resist the hardest material that is fed into the device. A rapid change pocket mechanism, which is awaiting a patent, firmly fastens each holder to the mill. To increase longevity, each holder is recessed into the mill pocket. Six hex bolts secure a top plate that covers the pocket. Two bolts are used to secure the hammer insert to each holder. Replacing the mill hardware is quicker and easier with this configuration.
A robust slat-style infeed conveyor with a pulling force of approximately 18,000 pounds is powered directly by the drive. When hydraulic pressure is supplied, the large diameter feed wheel, which is also directly powered, may generate an extra 17,000 pounds of pulling power and 8,650 to 17,300 pounds of down force. The HM6420 can efficiently and effectively grind large amounts of material at once thanks to these combinations.
Standard feed systems are proportionate, with a regulation range of 82 to 132 feet per minute.
The HM6420 has one of the fastest feed rates on the market allowing it to quickly process material. The proportional feed system allows operators to adjust the feed based on material being processed ensuring maximum output and grinder efficiency, all while achieving a higher quality end-product.
Three screens are located on the top side of the HM6420 mill. A variety of screen sizes are available up to 7" to produce various end-product sizes. The top feed wheel moves upward, and a removable screen cradle allows for quick screen set-up changes. All work for screen changing is performed outside of the machine.
Standard equipment includes an impact detection mechanism that reduces damage in the event that a contaminant strikes the grinding chamber. The grinder will reverse the feed, release the clutch, open the gate, and idle down when it detects an impact occurrence.
